Friday afternoon and evening in Kettering, Ohio started off as a soggy one.  Severe pop-up thunderstorms rolled through town for hours.  It wasn’t until 7:45pm that the storms would give way and enable Alison Krauss & Union Station to deliver a 2 hour and fifteen minute set of some of the world’s finest music.  The band is on tour with Jerry Douglas in support of their sixth album, and their first in seven years.  Paper Airplane debuted at #3 on Billboard’s Top 200 on April 12, 2011, and is the bands first release to enter the charts in a top 5 spot.  In addition, Paper Airplane debuted at the #1 spot on the Bluegrass Album Charts as well #1 on the Country Album Charts.

The band is currently on a 50+ city nationwide tour that started at the beginning of June, and will run through the end of September.  Alison Krauss and Union station started their tour with a 2 night stop in Louisville and the historic Palace Theater.  They went on to play Indianapolis a few nights later.  Then the band made a stop at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio on June 10th before heading out to the infamous Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN.
